Minecraft MOTD Generator

Design your server list MOTD with gradients and hex colors, see it exactly like in the multiplayer menu, and copy a ready config for your server software.

Minecraft Server
Editor
Select text in a line first. Without a selection the gradient wraps the whole line.
Lines accept MiniMessage tags as well as & and § color codes, for example: <red> <#ff55ff> <b> <gradient:#55ffff:#ff55ff> &a &l &#ff55ff
Your setup
Vanilla server.properties only supports the 16 standard colors, so hex colors and gradients are converted to the nearest standard color.

The page address updates as you type. Copy it to share your MOTD or edit it later.
Import from a server
Loads the current MOTD, icon and player count of an online server.
Paste an existing MOTD
Accepts a motd= line, & or § codes, MiniMessage or a JSON text component.

Pick the software that serves your server list entry. On a network, that is the proxy (Velocity or BungeeCord), not the backend servers. If you use a MOTD plugin, pick the plugin instead, because it overrides the server's own MOTD.

Hex colors and gradients need Minecraft 1.16 or newer on both the server and the player's client. Turn on the pre-RGB switch if your players join with older versions.

The server list shows two lines, each about 270 pixels wide (roughly 45 regular characters; bold text is wider). Longer lines wrap, and anything past the second line is hidden. The width bar under each line uses the real Minecraft font widths.
